How I produce hit songs with colleagues — Davido

Nigerian music megastar, David Adeleke fondly referred to as Davido, has revealed how he makes hit songs with his colleague. Davido is unarguably one of the most featured artistes in Africa. Moreso, any record he lends his voice to becomes an instant hit.

The artiste who released his fourth studio album, Timeless, on Friday during a chat with skit maker turned actress, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kie Kie stated that whenever he does a collaboration with anyone, he puts all he has into the project.

Davido said, “I always put in my all. If we do something together, I want the individual to succeed. People just record and feel like they are gods and it should just go itself. Beyonce still promotes her music. Who are you? I just like to give my all if I am working with somebody.

“I don’t think there is a goal for what I am doing. It’s just to keep being successful and helping other people. I am 30 years old and I have been doing this since I was like 16/17 years. I want to sit down and know that even if I haven’t got everything attainable, I have helped someone get everything attainable.”

Known to be a very energetic performer, the artiste stated that he has always been an active person since he was a kid.

“I have always had energy since I was young. When I was in school, my teacher used to tell my parents, ‘You guys should stop giving him sugar’. I have always had that energy. This break taught me patience. Even when I am flying on a plane, I will have to stand up every two hours to walk around. The energy is just in-built; it’s just natural,” said Davido.

Meanwhile, the multiple award-winning singer excited his fans with the release of his new album, Timeless, on Friday as he had been away from social media and public glare since the death of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, on 31 October 2022. Moreso, what set the Nigerian digital space on ‘fire’ is the fact that his colleague, Wizkid, whom many believe to be his rival posted on his social media page telling people to order the album online.

There had been a perceived battle of supremacy between the two great acts which oftentimes pit their followers against each other but with Wizkid’s action, many believe all is well between both stars.
