A cultist in Kwara State, Tijani Abdulfatahi (26), has told newsmen that he killed three people to gain promotion as a member of Eiye confraternity.
While speaking during a parade by the Kwara State Police Command, Tijani, a 500-level electrical and electronic drop out from the University of Ilorin, said he joined the group in 2019 following low academic performance.

He said, “Yes, I am a member of Eiye confraternity, and I have killed three persons in Kwara over rivalry disagreement.
“Those I killed were our rivals and my gang leader asked me to kill them for my promotion to become the Ostrich; that is the second in command in Kwara.”
Asked about the benefits that accrued to him as the number two man, the suspect said, “I will get protection from my members and other benefits like free food, money and women.
“After I joined the group, I started killing with my late father’s pistol, who was a retired army officer, Abdulazeez Olagunju, from Erin-Ile in Kwara State.
“The arm is now with a member of my gang who is at large called Damilare Adegoke.”
The police told newsmen during the parade that 15 other cult suspects had been arrested and charged to court for various criminal offences.
According to the police spokesman in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi (SP), seven categories of firearms were also recovered from them.
He said a three-man gang that specialise in stealing at POS spots in Ilorin and its environs had also been arrested.
