Gunmen have abducted two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State.
The victims – Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola – were reportedly abducted on Sunday night at OOU Campus in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.
Daily Trust learnt that the kidnappers swooped on the agricultural students in front of their hostel at Olowu area of Ayetoro.
A source told our correspondent that the abductors have reached out to the victims’ families and demanded a sum of N50 million as ransom.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Monday.
He said the students were abducted midnight and a joint security team has been dispatched to trail the kidnappers.
Oyeyemi said “Yes. It is true. They went there in the night. We are on their trail. The joint security team have been mobilised to the location.
“OOU has a campus in Ayetoro. They (kidnappers) went to their house in the midnight and abducted them.”
Yewa North LG has been the epicentre of insecurity in the state following the recent farmer-herder clashes which claimed many lives and destroyed property.
