Daily Trust reports that the former NSA lost his father, former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, in November 2016 while in detention. He was also said to have declined to attend the burial in protest in the aftermath of pleas from different quarters for President Buhari to release him to pay final respects for his father.
Sultan Dasuki died at the age of 93 at the Nigeria-Turkish hospital, Abuja, after a protracted illness.
The 18th Sultan of Sokoto was deposed in 1996 by the Gen. Sani Abacha regime.
