Christmas light is said to symbolise the stars, particularly the star of David, that appeared in Bethlehem the night Jesus Christ was born.
Since then, Christians use Christmas lights in their homes, Churches and streets, among other places.

Some individuals, groups, private bodies/organisations and governments at different levels have imbibed the culture of decorating strategic areas with Christmas lights during the Yuletide period. And these lights would be there until sometime in early January when they will be deactivated, alongside other decorations that would be removed.
For sure, this has become an exciting aspect of the Christmas celebration, which Christian faithful often find necessary and appealing, hence the yearly practice by the faithful.
This year is not an exception, and Christmas lights are seen in different places. In Jos, the Plateau State capital, our correspondent reports that Christmas lights are on display in various premises including Churches, offices, hotels and major roundabouts.
Such roundabouts are the Old Airport Junction by NASCO, Miango Junction and Rantiya/Low -Cost roundabout.
At night, passersby take time to admire the lights, while others try to take pictures by the roundabouts.
A resident, Noami Daniel, said the lights are unique because they do not only provide illumination but make the environment attractive.
According to her, she admired the beauty of the various light put up at the different locations especially at the night.
“I sometimes forget myself as I admire the beauty of the various illuminations in the town.’’
Daniel Yilret, said the lights reminded him of so many things, especially when he was a kid. He recalled that his father used to buy Christmas lights to decorate their house from December until at about February of the following year.
He thanked organisations that had decided to decorate the city with Christmas lights, and urged them to go further and reach out to the less privileged and put smiles on their faces during the season.
