Bandits who raided Gangara, a community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Tuesday, went in search of soldiers.
The armed gang stormed the community 48 hours after 17 security personnel were gunned down at a military formation in Dama, still Sabon Birni LGA.

Sa’idu Ibrahim, a member of Sokoto House of Assembly, said the bandits were now targeting security formations in the area.
He said they were hiding in a place called Tudun Katsira, which is between Bafarawa and Burkusuma, adding, “We are ready to lead them (security operatives) to the place.”
The lawmaker lamented that the whole of their area was under siege.
“We are living at their mercy, they kill us at will, tell us what and what not to do. No a traditional, community or religious leader has a say in his area, is the bandits that dictate to them,” he said.
“They raided Gangara village twice on Tuesday, first around 5am and when they could not find any security operative to kill, they came back around 3pm shouting ‘Where are the soldiers who claimed to be on our trail, where are they?’
“As they could not find any security operative to kill, they opened fire on residents,” he said.
When contacted, spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said he had no information on the latest attack.
