The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Olatunji Rilwan Disu has said some of his 140 active-duty officers perished as a result of Shiites, other violent protests, and high blood pressure in Abuja in 2024.

Disu clarified the number of police officers who died while on duty or actively serving over the phone with our reporter on Thursday, stating that some policemen also passed away while they were sleeping and others slumped and passed away at work.

He added that certain members of the deceased officer’s family received their entitlements and other perks, thanks to the command’s efforts through Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.
