A housewife and three of her children were on Sunday night abducted by gunmen in Ajilete community in Agunjin District in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State.
The kidnappers reportedly stormed the community shooting sporadically before they abducted the victims from their house and later contacted their family demanding N100m for their release.
Speaking on the issue on Tuesday, the Chairman of Ifelodun, Jide Asonibare, said, “We have already informed the police and the army both in Kwara and neighbouring Kogi state. 15 of our vigilantes are combing the bushes.
“I don’t have the names of the victims as we speak, but her husband told us that it was the children they wanted to kidnap before the mother volunteered to follow them rather than suffering the trauma at home.

“The kidnappers have contacted the family and demanded a N100m ransom. As it is, we are praying that the work of the combined team of police, army and vigilantes in Kwara and neighbouring states would yield positive results.”
Calls to the spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi, were not answered.
