The Police in Ondo State have claimed that the teenage housemaid who allegedly stabbed her mistress, Funmilayo Adebayo, to death in Akure, was mentally deranged.
City & Crime had reported that the 17-year-old girl, identified as Omowunmi Aduloju, allegedly stabbed Adebayo to death.
The unfortunate incident happened at Mrs Adebayo’s three-bedroom bungalow located at the Superjet Road, Premier Estate, Oda Town, a suburb of Akure.
It was gathered that the 50-year-old woman had adopted the teenage girl as her daughter.

In a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said the lifeless body of the woman was found in her pool of blood following the stench oozing from her house.
Odunlami-Omisanya revealed that the sister of the deceased who also arrived at the house and found the decomposed body rushed to inform the police.
She added that the teenager was later arrested by the police and the corpse, in a decomposing state, was removed for preservation.
According to her, the suspect was also interrogated on what transpired, which led to the killing of the woman, who was referred to as her foster mother.
“The suspect said she stabbed and locked her up in the house because she was always disturbing her to use her medication.
“Family members claimed the young girl had been under her late aunt’s tutelage since she was six years old but developed mental illness in 2023 and was admitted at a psychiatric hospital in the state.
“The young girl was discharged and handed over to the late woman to continue to monitor her.
“The psychiatric hospital where she was treated confirmed this claim by providing the police with her medical history,” she said.
Mrs Odunlami, however, added that the suspect has been placed in a police medical facility for safekeeping to avoid injury to herself and others.
