A four-bedroom flat and a fuel laden tanker were over the weekend gutted by fire in separate incidents in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, explained that the building was located in Anuoluwapo community behind Royal Valley Estate.
On the tanker fire, Adekunle said the service responded to an emergency at the Alflaman Filling Station in the Olooru area along Jebba expressway involving a 45,000-litre petrol tanker with registration number: LAF59XB.
He said, “Effort by the service prevented extensive damage to the filling station and spared another tanker parked across the expressway.

“An attendant inadvertently triggered the fire while attempting to drain residue into a jerry can. Startled by the ignition, the attendant flung the jerry can away, inadvertently causing it to land on a nearby tanker which caught fire.”
