Hoodlums stab ATBU director to death in Bauchi

Some unidentified persons on Sunday night stabbed to death Director of Works, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Engineer Hassan Sabo Jama’are at his residence in Bauchi metropolis.

A neighbor of the deceased told Daily Trust in confidence that the director was attacked Close to his house at Tudun Salmanu area in Bauchi while driving into his house and made away with his personal vehicle after the attack.

The source said that the deceased cried for help when his assailants surrounded his vehicle but no one came for his rescue until after they had left that neighbours came out and together with his family members rushed him to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.

Whencontacted, Bauchi State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakili confirmed the incident, saying, the gang stabbed the deceased with knife while he was trying to enter his house around 10 PM Sunday.

“After stabbing him the robbers went away with his car, Honda Accord with registration number, EKY 388 CP.

“Afterthe robbers had left, his neighbours and family members took him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. The incident was reported to the police at “C” Division, and the police promptly responded and conducted a search in the area but could not see any of the robbers,” Wakili said.

Wakili however, noted that the State Commissioner of Police Tanko Lawal Jimeta, has directed discreet investigation with a view to arrest the fleeing armed robbers for them to face the full wreath of the law.
