‘Hoodlums’ set another police station on fire in Imo

Again, some gun-totting hoodlums have attacked the Okwelle Divisional Police Headquarters in Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo state.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen struck at midnight when there was no police officer on duty.

The recent attack comes just a week after some gunmen attacked Isu Divisional Police Headquarters and killed two policemen on duty.

A witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the policemen there usually leave every night and reopen it in the morning.

The witness said, “We learnt they sleep in another station. Last night, hoodlums stormed there and set it ablaze. This is about the only functional police station around here and it has been set on fire. This is highly unfortunate.”

Police spokesperson, CSP Mike Abattam, confirmed the attack but added that there was no casualty.
