A 45-year-old vigilante, simply identified as Oluwafemi, has been killed by hoodlums for allegedly preventing them from picking disposed frozen poultry products at a dump site in the Epe area of Lagos State.
The victim, who was a member of the Ibile Vigilante Group, was allegedly on guard duty at the dump site when he was attacked by the hoodlums.
City & Crime learnt that at least 14 suspects had since been arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident.
It was learnt that scores of hoodlums, at about 5pm on Saturday, besieged the dump site where several kilogrammes of frozen turkey were dumped by a government agency.
Lagos State police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, saying that the victim was first taken to the Epe General Hospital where he was treated and discharged, but that his condition relapsed the following day and was rushed back to the hospital where he eventually died.
