Hoodlums attack Edo commissioner’s house

Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs have attacked the residence of Edo State Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Damian Lawani.

It was gathered that the hoodlums stormed Lawani’s residence at about 11pm on Tuesday, in Udaba Ekphei Community, Etsako West Local Government Area  of the state thinking that he was at home.

Lawani is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and an ally of the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu and  Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The state government on Monday raised an alarm that some people had engaged thugs and paid them to cause mayhem in the state.

It was gathered that the hoodlums on getting to the house, shot sporadically, destroying several properties and leaving family members with various degrees of injuries.

Sources said the hoodlums left a message with a promise to return for the commissioner.

It was learnt that those injured in the attack were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Meanwhile, effort to get confirmation from the police was not successful as calls to the police spokesperson’s, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, phone were not going through.
