Home-based basketball players have aired their feelings on the lingering crisis that has bedeviled the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) as they said their career is in danger.

It will be noted that since 2017, the federation has been enmeshed in a leadership crisis being spearheaded by two factions led by Engr Musa Kida and Tijani Umar.

At the moment, the NBBF is engulfed in another round of crisis over the 2021 elections.

Speaking to Daily Trust, Gloria Umeh who plays for Plateau Rocks said it’s the players who will continue to suffer the brunt of the leadership tussle between the two factions.

“Honestly, I don’t know much about what is going on. I only know that the fight between the two elephants is falling back on the players. The worst is even the players not based in Abuja and Lagos. At least, we get to play some of the mini competitions organized by individuals.

“For us, we have not played any game for two years now. The two factions are just selfish, nobody is thinking of the local league and all those depending on it,” she said.

In the same vein, Nigeria Army Amazons captain, Sarah Alhassan, opined that home based players are not valued.

She also advised her colleagues to stay out of the politics surrounding the game.

“First of all, everything that is happening is provoking me because no matter how much we tell them what will help us, they won’t change. I will advise players to stay out of the politics of everything and form a coalition,” she stated.
