HIV/AIDS killed 45,000 in Nigeria in 2019 – UN

The United Nations (UN) Joint Team on HIV/AIDS on Tuesday said 45,000 people died of HIV/AIDS rated diseases in Nigeria last year.

The team, represented by Dr Fiona Braka from the World Health Organization, stated this in Abuja during the press conference to commemorate this year’s World AIDS Day organised by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).

She said this was unacceptable as it happened in an area where government, donors and partners had successfully made life-saving medication and commodities available.
