HEKAN President to FG: Use Air Force jets to end kidnapping along Kaduna-Abuja expressway

The President of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (HEKAN), Reverend Amos G. Kiri, on Sunday urged the Federal government to use Air Force jets   to end kidnapping along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

He said the air force with support from the Army can raid the hideout of the criminals along that route so that travellers will have rest of mind.

The HEKAN President, who made the called at the closing of the 53rd Annual Convention of HEKAN at Gonin Gora in Kaduna, said activities of kidnappers now threaten food security in the country.

He said farmers are now afraid to visit their farms as he called on the government to do something fast to save the country.

“The government must support these agencies. I would suggest that the Air Force jets be used on the criminals through air raids and the army battalions on foot can chase the hoodlums out of our forests.

“The security situation is so bad that, we cannot close our eyes to what is happening. It is so bad that our livelihood is being threatened. We are devastated because of what the kidnappers have unleashed on us. You can’t travel because you are afraid whether by day and night,” he said.

‎In his remarks, Chairman of the North-East Development Commission, General, Paul Tarfa (rtd), said the federal government must deploy the Nigerian Air Force fighter jets to rid the nation’s major highways of kidnappers, armed robbers and bandits.

General Tarfa said kidnapping on Kaduna-Abuja road and other places will not stop, until the security agents take the fight to them in the forest.

“Since it has been identified that the criminals attack and go into to forest to hibernate, the best to do is to root them out and take the fight to them in the forest. The forest must be combed, otherwise, they will keep on coming back to the road,” he said.
