Heavy shooting was witnessed a short while ago at the Sports complex, Yenagoa, venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives primary for Yenagoa-Kolokuma/Opokuma federal constituency.
Before the shootings, supporters of different aspirants had clashed around the vicinity of the sports complex, but the security men on duty had to disperse the crowd through sporadic shooting and teargas.
As at 5:15pm, voting was yet to commence, while delegates are yet to be accredited into the venue.
Former secretary to Bayelsa State government, Prof. Steve Azaiki and immediate past worldwide president of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Engr Udense Eridari, are front line aspirants in the contest as one of them may clinch the party’s ticket at the end of the exercise.
