The Presidency says the proposed health sector reforms bill will ensure that several millions of Nigerians who can’t afford to pay charges begin to receive efficient healthcare services once the new system takes off.
Laolu Akande, one of the spokespersons in the presidency, said this in a statement issued on Tuesday after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over a meeting of National Council on Privatization (NCP) where power sector issues and comprehensive healthcare reforms were tabled.
Akande said the NCP had approved the preparation and presentation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Federal Executive Council (FEC) a draft legislative instrument to enact the Health Sector Reform Bill and associated legislation.
He said the approval was significant and a critical point that the Buhari administration was committed to the well-being of all Nigerians with the proposed health sector reforms bill.
Members of the NCP included several federal ministers, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), who is the Secretary of the Council.
