The Federal Ministry of Health has organised a two-day training for some of its staff on budget performance and implementation, and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The ministry’s Deputy Director of Finance and Accounting, Sharon Steven, said the trainees were drawn from the department.

“The ministry is thinking of how to utilize ICT to computerize revenue generation in the health sector to make it easier and easier to accountability.
“Because accounting is a dynamic course whereby it keeps on developing and changing to ensure efficiency, accuracy and accountability all the time. So that is why we try to keep our staff to start knowing what are the stakes and intake as it’s done in advanced countries and all those things so that we can keep on towards that. Otherwise, we would keep on that analogue system”.
An expert in financial accounting, auditing and taxation, Isa Abubakar Kutigi, who presented a paper at the workshop, noted that the advent of ICT plays a vital role in transforming revenue administration in Nigeria.
