The minister of health, Isaac Adewole yesterday, inaugurated a committee that will improve health outcomes and accelerate universal health coverage in the country.

The minister did the inauguration during the commissioning of 100 units of powerkits donated to National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) by B-medics.

The  PHC supply chain revitalization committee will ensure a functional PHC per ward which will improve overall health outcomes in the country and accelerate Universal Health Coverage in the country.

The Minister charged the members of the committee to do their work diligently, saying that the exercise is a major commitment of the President Buhari led administration.

The Executive Director of NPHCDA,  Faisal Shuaib said that the federal government was working to revamp 10,000 Primary Health Care (PHC), across the country.

He said "as we are all aware, the PHC revitalisation is the cardinal health agenda of the present administration. The overall goal is to revamp and revitalise up to 10,000 PHC across the country (at least 1 per ward) principally to improve the provision of basic healthcare package for over 100 million Nigerians.

"Achieving this will require collaborative efforts of government at all level, donors, development partners and private sector".

He added that the Solar Direct Drive (SDDs) was coming at the right time to guarantee benefiting facilities with alternative power source especially in the context of the current drive to improve and stabilize power supply through the national grid.

The chairman of the PHC Chain Revitalisation Committee, Modupe Chukwumah said that the committee will work as team and deliver on its promise.
