Health experts from the North West zone yesterday gathered in Kano for a workshop aimed at addressing the challenges of poor acceptance of immunisation vaccines in the sub-region.
Organised by the Paediatrics Association of Nigeria (PAN) and the International Paediatric Association (IPA), the workshop focused on finding sustainable solutions to improve immunisation practices.
Dr Fatima Damagum, one of the facilitators, expressed concern about the hesitancy towards vaccination and the resulting poor immunisation rates, which have led to numerous deaths in the North.
The workshop, she said, aimed to tackle these issues and enhance the health outcomes, particularly for women and children.

Daily Trust reports that key issues discussed at the workshop included infrastructure problems hindering access to healthcare services, especially in rural areas, negligence, and low awareness about the importance of immunisation.
The participants are to create a policy framework to raise awareness about immunisation’s critical role in preventing childhood diseases and improving overall health.
