Health, education top N376bn 2023 Kaduna budget

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Hajiya Umma Aboki, has said that the N376 billion 2023 budget passed by the House of Assembly prioritises the health and education sectors. 

While giving a breakdown of the budget yesterday, the commissioner said the two sectors took 43.70 per cent of the budget, explaining that, “15.7 per cent of the total budget has been allocated to the health sector and 28 per cent was allocated to education, bringing the total allocation to health and education to 43.70 per cent.

“This is consistent with the state government’s commitment to allocate a minimum of 15 per cent and 25 per cent of its total annual budget to health and education respectively.”

Hajiya Umma further disclosed that the capital expenditure of the budget amounted to N240bn, representing 64.01 per cent of the entire budget, while recurrent expenditure was N135bn – 35.99 per cent of the budget.
