Headless body found, 15 people missing in wake of Abia-Akwa Ibom boundary clash

A headless body has been found and 15 people missing in the wake of a clash between villages in Abia and Akwa Ibom.

Ugbo village in Arochukwu council area of Abia and Nkpania village in Ibiono Ibom council area of Akwa have been pitted in a boundary dispute.

It is not known whether the decapitated body was from Ugbo or Nkpania.

Confirming the clash, the Police Public Relations Officer ,(PPRO) Mr Geoffrey Ogbonna stated that the headless body of the victim had been recovered and deposited in mortuary .

He added that Policemen from both States had been mobilised to the area to restore peace while assuring that normalcy was returning to the area .

Leaders in Ugbo announced the discovery to journalists.

One, Mazi Onwunere, expressed concern over the safety of his missing kinsmen.

He regretted that his community had been thrown into fear, as the entire area was now like a ghost town.

A state lawmaker for Ikwuano constituency took to the floor of the Abia assembly to claim 28 kinsmen of Ariam Usaka  had been killed in an attack by invaders alleged to be from some towns of neighbouring Akwa Ibom.
