The body parts of a new born baby have been found at the Sakau area of Sabon Gari in Wudil town of Kano State.

Residents of Sakau said they woke up Sunday morning to the gory sight of the dismembered body, explaining that the legs and head were found in a bush without the other parts.

The Ward Head of Sakau, Malam Muhammadu Sule, who confirmed the incident, said they had informed relevant authorities and the police for proper investigation.

Malam Sule said, “Somebody called Manager informed me that a new born baby’s legs had been found in a nearby bush in the area in the early hours of Sunday. I got to the place and saw them. I quickly reported to my village head, who ordered me to also inform the police and the Hisbah.

“We searched but couldn’t find the remaining parts of the baby. It was after we buried the legs, approximately two hours later, that I was informed that the baby’s head had also been found nearby. We reported again to the authorities, and we had to dig out the legs we buried, and they were taken to the Wudil hospital for autopsy.

A resident, Shehu Abdullahi, told Daily Trust that they suspected someone gave birth, cut the baby into pieces and threw it away or that someone stole the baby and did so for rituals.

The Village Head of Sabon Gari, Alhaji Garba Mai Disai, who also confirmed the incident, urged residents to be very sensitive and alert so as to report any suspicious activity in their areas to the authorities for appropriate action.

The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, promised to get back to our reporter after finding out from the DPO of Wudil.
