A former player of Kano Pillars, Adamu Hassan, has blamed the club’s failure to win laurels in recent times on lack of unity in the top Nigeria Professional Football League side.
One of the most motivated clubs in Nigerian football, Kano Pillars can boast of only four league titles, one FA Cup trophy and one Super Cup won back in 2008.

For many, Pillars have failed to justify the huge funding from the state government.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday in a no holds barred interview, Hassan who left the club at the end of last season to rejoin Nasarawa United said the fortunes of Pillars will continue to decline unless there is cooperation between the technical crew and the management.
He said the state government is doing everything to support the club to win laurels but divisions in the club have continued to frustrate government’s efforts.
The former Kwara United player reiterated that from the outside one will be tempted to believe that all is well in Pillars but insiders know better the situation on the ground.
He, therefore, advised the handlers of the club to learn to be more professional in their dealings with the players as he said results can be achieved only when everyone is given a level playing field.
“The problem with Kano Pillars is lack of unity. They in charge of the club are not united.
“Government is giving the necessary support for Pillars to win trophies but it is becoming more difficult because of lack of unity in the club.
“Players scramble to play for Pillars because of regular payment of salaries but when they go in there, they end up disappointed.
Once the majority don’t like you, you will never play for Pillars.
“Outsiders won’t understand what I am saying because from outside, it is so beautiful,” he said.
