Hardship: PDP insists Tinubu is overwhelmed

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the federal government for attacking its governors who spoke out against what it called the “failures of President Bola Tinubu and the APC government which have plunged Nigerians into excruciating suffering.”

Hon. Debo Ologunagba, national publicity secretary of the party, in a statement noted that the APC and the “Tinubu administration are responsible for the current biting economic hardship and surging wave of insecurity across the country as they are completely overwhelmed and lack the capacity and competence to lead a nation like Nigeria.”

The PDP spokesman said by seeking to allocate President Tinubu’s statutory duties to state governors, “the APC has unambiguously admitted that it foisted on Nigerians an incompetent president who cannot guarantee security and whose administration has devastated our national economy resulting in extreme hunger, hopelessness and desperation as evident in the protests, agitation and rising spate of suicide across the country.”

The ruling APC, in a statement on Sunday by Mr Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, had said President Tinubu was implementing bold and far-reaching reforms necessary for the nation’s economic recovery, sustainable growth and prosperity.

He was reacting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ advice to Tinubu to throw in the towel in the face of the hardships experienced by Nigerians.

He said that like all citizens, governors were entitled to free speech, adding that such rights must be exercised responsibly.

He stressed that reckless utterances capable of inflaming passions and social upheaval must be avoided.
