An Abuja-based Islamic scholar, Imam Dr Adam Jamiu Dosunmu, has urged Muslims to extend acts of goodness in the month of Ramadan.
He made the call during the 1445 Ramadan Lecture organised by Majlis Tajdeed Tadhamunul Muslimeen Association (MTTA), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter.
He said this was particularly necessary because of the hardship and hunger now in the country.
“We need to pay attention to the plight of people living in our communities at this critical period,” he said.
The guest lecturer, who spoke on the theme ‘Ramadan: Let’s Avoid the Loss’, urged Muslims to ensure they fully maximise the virtues of Ramadan.
He said the faithful must shun all acts of sin and crime that constitute impediments to the acceptance of the divine assignment.
“While fasting, it’s not enough to abstain from eating and drinking, you must not backbite nor slander your fellow humans,” he added.
Dr Dosumu urged Muslims to be morally upright during and after Ramadan.
“Don’t be God-fearing while the Ramadan fast lasts, ensure you carry on with this laudable act for the rest of your existence,” he urged.
