A former presidential aide and journalist, Reuben Abati, has criticised the handling of Nigeria’s economy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said Nigerians are now facing gross embarrassment in economic management, describing the situation as one which would elicit laughter from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Abati, an anchor of The Morning Show on ARISE TV, said, “We now find ourselves in a situation whereby former President Muhammadu Buhari will be laughing. He will say okay, I think this Yoruba people say they know the economy, The economy is now in their hands, they have mismanaged it.
“What we are facing is gross embarrassment in terms of economic management to people from the Southwest who say people from the South West are better at managing the economy, We have not seen that evidence. Schools have increased school fees. Do you know that a stick of Suya is now N1850. We can’t even eat Suya again, all in a space of one or two weeks.’’

He also lamented how Lagos state which was supposed to be the Nigeria’s epicenter of business has, according to him, been reduced to “a ghost town.”
‘’How many vehicles do you see on the road now? People are now rationalizing their lifestyle. Lifestyle is affected, families are affected, husbands beginning to go to the market to make sure madams do not top up chop money.” he decried.
Tinubu has been heavily criticised over his handling of the economy.
