The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 53 teenagers for allegedly selling hard drugs and other intoxicants in the city.
The suspects, mostly teenagers were arrested on Tuesday night at Lamido Crescent in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Malam Lawal Ibrahim Fagge, the board’s Public Relations Officer, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said they were arrested after an intelligence report on their involvement in the immoral activity in the area.
“The suspects comprise of 27 males and 26 females, all of whom are between the ages of 17 and 19.
“Our men went there around 10:00pm and arrested 53 suspects,” Fagge said.
According to him, immoral acts are prohibited under the Sharia Law operating in the state.
He stressing that the commission will do its best in curbing the state of such practices.
He also said the Commander-General of the board, Harun Ibn-Sina, has warned youths in the state to desist from wayward lifestyles and be patriotic citizens.
