President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting started with the arrival of the president into the council chamber by 11:03am.
Our correspondent reports that after the opening prayers, journalists were excused from the meeting.
It is expected that the president will dissolve the cabinet which he constituted in December 2015, ahead of his inauguration for second term on Wednesday.
In attendance are Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita; the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and 31 ministers.
Our correspondent reports that at the moment, there are 31 ministers in the federal cabinet against the 36 the president appointed in 2015.
Five of the ministers namely; Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Kemi Adeosun (Ogun), Ibrahim Usman Jibril (Nasarawa), Aisha Alhassan (Taraba) and Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim (Yobe) left the federal cabinet at different times over various reasons.
