The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, yesterday condemned the killing of a pupil, Hanifa Abubakar, by Tanko Abdulmalik, proprietor of Noble Kids School, saying the Federal Government wanted to see justice done.
Abdulmalik had confessed <https://www.thecable.ng/i-killed-her-with-n100-rat-poison-kano-proprietor-gives-details-of-hanifas-murder/amp> to the killing Hanifa, a five-year-old pupil of the school, who was reported to have been abducted in December and her captors had demanded N6m ransom.
He had said he killed the pupil with “rat poison”, and buried her body in the school premises with the help of a friend.
In a statement yesterday, the minister said the incident was an assault on the entire teaching profession and must not be allowed to happen again.
He said: “We’re watching this national tragedy very closely and we’re interested in seeing that justice is not only done, but explicitly seeing to be done.
“If a child cannot be safe in the hands of his/her teacher, where else can the child be safe.”
Adamu applauded the steps being taken by the state government to address the incident.
While sympathize with the parents of the pupil, the minister prayed that Allah condole them in the best way possible.
