Defenders of Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) male handball team on Saturday in Abuja defeated Rima Strikers of Sokoto, 33-22, to advance in the ongoing 2019 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League.
Defenders led by 18-9 by the break before extending their win in the second half.
Defenders had defeated Owena Kings of Akure, 36-21, in their first game on Tuesday and won their second game against Kada Stars of Kaduna, 29-24, on Wednesday.
The team, however, lost their third game on Thursday against Seasider of Lagos, 24-25, and also defeated defending champions Niger United of Minna, 28-25, in their fourth game on Friday.
In the same vein, Plateau Peacocks female handball club of Jos defeated Seasiders Babes of Lagos 28-24 to win their fifth game at the ongoing Handball Premier League.
It will be noted that Peacocks drew 18-18 in their first game, against Edo Dynamos of Benin, and won their second game against Defenders Babes 27-20.
They also thrashed Desert Queens of Katsina 50-20 in their third game, while they beat Owena Queens of Akure 34-16 in their fourth game.
