Hajj: Pilgrims tasked to respect S/Arabian laws

Intending pilgrims for the 2023 Hajj exercise have been urged to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and adhere strictly to regulations and other principles of the Saudi Arabian Government.

The Sales and Marketing Manager of Hajj Mabrur Ventures Limited, Alhaji Moshood Lambo, gave the advice in Abuja at the 21st annual Hajj seminar for intending pilgrims of the organisation.

Other officials of the organisation equally took the pilgrims through the rites of hajj, admonishing them to be of good conduct and avoid acts capable of rendering their journey and money spent worthless.

A comptroller of customs, Dauda Chana, urged the pilgrims to go along with receipts or evidence of their jewelries and other valuables that may be subject to import duties on their return.

This, he said, was to prove that they took them from Nigeria so they can be exempted from paying other import duties.

On her part, Commander of Narcotics, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command, Hajiya Fatima Popoola, cautioned the pilgrims against carrying illicit drugs and to also be conscious of whom they associate with to avoid being tricked into conveying drugs.

Speaking on some of the hajj rites, the Director of Academic Planning, University of Abuja, Dr Abdulwasii Garbadeen, urged pilgrims to be patient as most of the issues that trigger annoyance can be overcome.

He said patience and perseverance are part of what makes hajj acceptable, thus pilgrims should prepare themselves spiritually by cleaning their hearts.
