Hajj: NAHCON allocates 64 slots to Delta

The Delta State Chairman of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Yahaya Ufuoma Mohammed, has disclosed that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has allocated 64 slots to intending pilgrims in the state for the 2024 Hajj.

Mohammed, who is also the Vice President- General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) in the state, in a chat with City & Crime in Warri, said the number was more than that of 2023, which was just over 50.

He also disclosed that the commission announced N4.5m as deposit for the 2024 Hajj pending when the full payment was announced on or before Ramadan next year.

Mohammed, who said the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board had been dissolved for over four months, appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to put modalities in place to reconstitute the board, and urged that the new board should be made up of indigenous Muslims of the state.
