Hajj: Kano to airlift first batch of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

Baring any last minute change of plans, the first batch of the 400 intending pilgrims from Kano State will be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for the 2022 hajj exercise on Monday.

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abba Danbatta, made the disclosure to Daily Trust in Kano.

He said, “If all the arrangements go as planned, Kano pilgrims will be airlifted to Saudi Arabia today (Monday) by Azman Air, already the pilgrims are set and waiting to be transported to the holy land.

“As you can see, the pilgrims are already at Hajj camp; our officials are conducting their final screening and COVID-19 testing, which is mandatory before the airlift.”

Danbatta assured that the agency was set to start airlifting.

The commencement of the pilgrims airlift had started behind schedule from the initial date slated for the exercise despite the fact that pilgrims from other states had already arrived the Holy Land.

Sources from the board said that the delay was caused by the problem the board had with the airline.

“But this time, the problem I has been solved. There is a confirmation from the airline that we are going to take off beginning from today Monday”, one of the sources said.
