Hajj 2024: Pilgrims tasked on conducts

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged intending pilgrims for the 2024 hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia on good conducts.

The National Commissioner, Operations at NAHCON, Prince Olanrewaju Anofiu Elegushi, made the call on Saturday in Abuja at the 22nd annual Hajj seminar for the 326 intending pilgrims of the Hajj Mabrur Ventures Limited.

He said  the exercise is very important, as it is also being done at the state levels.

He said, “Enlightenment is key because without enlightenment, some of them don’t even know where they are going. So it’s a very key exercise that must be done before embarking on that journey.

“Hajj Mabrur is doing what they are supposed to do. The first thing for the pilgrims to think is about the amount they spend. So if you spend such amounts, and you are not adhering to the rules of the game, definitely, you’re wasting money.

“So, their intention is to go and worship. So, they should stick to that intention. They should not be diverted to other areas that would not be profitable to what they went there for,” Elegushi said.

He also urged the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the country, and to pray for the country as well.

On his part, the MD/CEO of Hajj Mabrur Ventures Limited, Alhaji AbdulHameed Olasunkanmi Solate, urge the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and adhere strictly to regulations and other principles of the Saudi Arabia Government, to ensure the success of their acts of worship.

He also said that, while the pilgrims would be covered by insurance in Saudi Arabia, the organisation, this year, has also procured insurance for the 326 intending pilgrims travelling with it.
