Kaduna State Government has vowed to beef up security at the state International Airport before and during the airlift of intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this at an event organised by the Muslims Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) to honour the newly appointed Executive Secretary of Kaduna Welfare Pilgrims Agency, Dr Yusuf Yakubu Alrigasiyyu.
He said the state had begun discussion with the security apparatus on how to provide security around the airport.
He assured the people that intending pilgrims would be airlifted from the airport to the holy land.
“We are in a serious discussion with the military and other relevant security agencies on how we can beef up security within the Kaduna airport general area and by the special grace of God, we are hopeful that our intending pilgrims will be airlifted from the Airport,” he said.
In his remarks, Alrigasiyyu requested for prayers from all the stakeholders for the agency to succeed during the forthcoming exercise.
The Ameer of MSSN, Kaduna Area Council, Ibrahim Shehu Giwa, said 61 faith-based organisations attended the event and pray to Allah to guide the new ES to discharge his enormous task and reward those that would contribute to the success.
