Gusau Institute rewards winners of best Hausa manuscript

The Gusau Institute has again rewarded three outstanding authors who emerged victorious at the Aliyu Mohammed Research Library Book Prize for unpublished Hausa manuscripts.

The competition is aimed at encouraging Hausa writers and promoting the language for the benefit of future generations.

Abdullahi Hassan Yarima emerged 1st runner up for his manuscript, ‘Tamanin Da Tara,’ Zaharadeen Ibrahim Kalah 2nd runner up for ‘Murchin Kan Dutse’ and Ado Bala Abubakar 3rd runner up for ‘Suhufin Farin Chiki.’

Speaking at the event, the Convener of the Arewa Research and Development Programme (ARDP), Dr. Usman Bugaje said the initiative will not only strengthen the Hausa language but also the area of technology.

He urged Nigerians to put education first in all their endeavours.

Librarian of the institute, Mohammed Suleiman said a total of 52 entries were received from different authors within and outside the country, including Sudan and Gabon.

Suleiman added that out of the 52 entries received, six were chosen by a professional team of judges who, after strict consultations, selected the best three manuscripts. He assured that measures have been put in place to ensure that the competition is transparent and called on Hausa writers across the globe to take advantage of the opportunity. He also commended General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau for supporting the writing and promotion of the Hausa language.
