Gunshots fired as hoodlums clash in Lagos

There is pandemonium in the popular Obalende part of Lagos Island following a clash between factional members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Daily Trust reports that several gunshots were heard in the area as hoodlums suspected to be members of the transport union took on one another.

Many video footages of the clash showed people especially workers resuming for the day’s engagement running to safety.

The place is deserted at the time of filing this report while security operatives have been mobilized.

An update on the Lagos Traffic Reports @TrafficChiefNg as at 9.04 am said, “Please guys if you’re going to Obalende or Ikoyi through that axis biko turn back, Agberos are fighting and as usual the @PoliceNG are doing nothing about it. @GidiTraffic”

Daily Trust reports that Obalende which is a major intra state transportation hub has been notorious with clashes by commercial motorists fighting for control of the parks.

The State Police Command was yet to make official statement on the clash while the spokesman of the command, Muyiwa Adejobi has not responded to our correspondent’s enquiry at the time of filing this report.
