Residents of Ushafa in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were yesterday thrown into confusion as gunmen suspected to be kidnappers reportedly invaded the community late Tuesday night, killing a family head, Benjamin Ogundare , and abducted his family members.
City & Crime learnt that the incident happened around 11: 20pm that Tuesday around the LEA primary school in the community.
Musa Isiah, a resident, said the gunmen came in a large numbers, shooting sporadically before entering the man’s house.
It was reported that the gunmen went away with the man’s wife, his 14-year-old son, and his 28-year-old cousin.

However, the man’s wife was released after getting to Sunape village, which is on the other side of the mountain.
A source said this was likely done to ensure there was someone available to organise payment of ransom for the other kidnapped victims.
FCT police public relations officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident when she was contacted yesterday evening but said she was still working on the details.
