The Proprietor of Winners Comprehensive High School, Jalingo, Mr Danlami Shamaki has been shot dead by gunmen along Wukari-Jalingo road on Sunday.

The police public relation officer in Taraba state, DSP David Misal who confirmed the incident said the command received information on the killing of Shamaki.

He added that the state police commissioner has ordered investigation to be carried out.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that late Shamaki with three others were returning from Abuja in his Toyota Jeep at about 5:00PM when they ran into a group of armed men between Danacha and Sabongida village in Gassol local government area of Taraba state.

It was gathered that the gunmen on sighting the vehicle pushed a wheelbarrow into the road and halted the vehicle and opened fire at the vehicle.

According to the eyewitness, the gunmen shot the late Proprietor who was sitting in front of the vehicle on the forehead while the driver of the vehicle managed to escape with the other three passengers unhurt but Shamaki died instantly.

It was gathered that the remains of Danlami Shamaki was taken to Jalingo and deposited at the Federal medical centre mortuary .

The police also confirmed the abduction of an elderly person in Jalingo on Sunday night by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

The Victim identified as Umaru Mairiga, an elder brother to a Jalingo based business man, Uba Mairiga.
