Dare devil gunmen have shot dead a police inspector, commander of Kaduna state vigilante group and abducted two young girls at Unguwar Katsinawa, Shika, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state.

Confirming the incident to Daily Trust on Tuesday,the spokesperson of the Kaduna State police command, ASP Mukhtar Hussaini Aliyu, said the police during the early hours of Sunday received a distress call and immediately dispatched its personnel to the scene of the crime.

It was during exchange of fire, ASP Aliyu said, that the police inspector and the vigilante commander lost their lives, while a policecorporal and other residents sustained gunshot injuries.

The father of the deceased vigilante commander, Malam Muhammad Gali, told Daily Trust that armed men numbering about 50 stormed the residence of his son, Malam Mustapha Muhammad Gali, shot him in two places and abducted two of his daughters.

He added; “it was around 1am that my son called me, telling me that gunmen have surrounded his house. I woke up his siblings. While we approached the house, the gunmen began firing at us from all angles.

We all took to our heels. It was later we learnt that he was shot and was taken to the ABUTH, Shika where he died. Our major concern now is the girls that they have abducted.”
