Suspected kidnappers have reportedly killed a police escort and abducted four Chinese expatriates working on the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway.
A source said the gunmen stormed the railway project site at Adeaga/Alaagba village in Odeda local government on Wednesday and killed the policeman attached to the Chinese workers.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command had deployed a tactical team to trail the gunmen.
He said: “It is true, the incident happened. The victims are Chinese expatriates working at the constitution site.
“The gunmen laid ambush for the victims on their way and they were attacked. A police officer escorting them was killed.
“We started the investigation yesterday (Wednesday). We are on the trail of those people and hopefully, we are going to get them,” he added.
