Gunmen kill five villagers in Jos

Gunmen in the wee hours of Friday  attacked Fobur community in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing five persons.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the community while people were asleep and started shooting repeatedly for a while before they left.
On their way, the gunmen were also said to have stopped over at Fusa community where they reportedly kidnapped one Haruna Ajik.
The first victim shot in Fobur was said to have been hit when he came out to verify what the gunshot was all about.
It was learnt that two other victims met their death around a primary school not far from the venue of the first incident, while the last two victims were shot at a place called Naton.
The  Police Public Relations Officer  (PPRO) of the Plateau State Command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident, saying that the police were alerted after the gunmen had perpetrated the act and escaped.
He explained that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area immediately alerted other security agencies, including the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), adding that security had been beefed up in the area.
  1. The PPRO explained that the motive of the attack “is still unclear” as the area was not known for crisis, noting that the security were on the trail of the attackers.
