Gunmen in the wee hours of Tuesday killed the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Atakumosa East Central Local Government Area of Osun State, Chief Gbenga Ogbara.
The politician was shot dead at his residence at Igangan, his hometown.
The remains of the late APC chieftain have been deposited at Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, Osun State.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
She said the Command has deployed more policemen to the town to beef up security and restore law and order.
Opalola said police detective had commenced investigation into the killing, assuring that Ogbara’s killers would be brought to book.
