Unknown gunmen killed seven villagers at Makyelli village in Kufana district of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident which happened in the early hours of Wednesday came few hours after an attack at another community claimed five on Tuesday evening.
The two attacks were seen as one more reprisal in hostilities between suspected herdsmen and locals in the community following a similar attack by suspected herdsmen that claimed 15 lives at Gonan Rogo on Monday night.
A source in the area who didn’t want his name mentioned said Makyelli village was a stone throw from Gonan Rogo all within the Kufana district.
“It was unfortunate what is happening around this area because both attacks were reprisal from both sides following the killings in Gonan Rogo village on Monday night.
“Some angry locals went into the bush and killed five people on Tuesday and early this morning (Wednesday) the suspected herdsmen invaded Makyelli village killing seven people,” he said.
Daily Trust gathered that military arrived early which helped to curtail the situation.
Contacted the state Police Command Public Relations officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige asked for time to find out what happened from the area before commenting.
