At least six people have been reportedly killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Locals said that the gunmen had on Sunday invaded Igba-Ukyor and Tse Baka communities of Ushongo around 8:00pm and opened fire on the inhabitants.
The locals said that five people were killed in Igba Ukyor village by the gunmen who rode on motorbikes during the attack while the remaining one was killed in Tse Baka, bringing the number of those killed to six. The state Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bemgba Iortyom, who hails from the local government, confirmed the attack and killings.

But, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, told journalists that she was not yet aware of the incident.
