Gunmen have killed six persons in Karfi village in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State and abducted the Village Head, Abdulyahya Ilo. The men were killed while trying to rescue their village head from the grip of the gunmen.
Takai LGA in Kano South is about 80km from Kano metropolis and shares borders with several towns of Jigawa State. The gunmen raided the village on Sunday evening and abducted the 53-year-old village head.

They were said to have come on three motorcycles from Bauchi State through Ringim Forest in Jigawa State and were on their way out of the village when the villagers mobilised and trailed them in order to rescue their leader.
The gunmen were said to have turned back and opened fire on the trailing group, shooting nine of them out of who six have so far been confirmed dead while the three others are said to be responding to treatment.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the police in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said a team of operatives had been dispatched to the area with the goal of rescuing the abducted village head and arresting the suspects.
