Gunmen have killed five persons and injured three others in an attack on Ungwan Ganye B and Sabon Gida communities in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State Monday night.
The Public Relations Officer, Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Josiah Yusuf Abraks, in a statement, said the gunmen came in their numbers on motorcycles at about 10:00 pm on Monday when many of the villagers were sleeping and killed five innocent villagers.
Those killed, according to the statement, are: Linus Ado, Oscar Anthony, Joel Nabiko, Abass Joseph and Samuel Amadu, while Peter Sule, Monday Gambo and Emmanuel Berom sustained various degrees of injuries and are receiving medical treatment at the Gwantu General Hospital, Sanga LGA.
SOKAPU President, Samuel Kato Tabara, who commiserated with the families of those who lost their loved ones, also called on the people of the affected communities to remain peaceful and law-abiding citizens.
He also urged relevant authorities to investigate the attack and arrest the perpetrators and their sponsors.
He also called on the state government to assist the victims with relief materials and resettle displaced communities in safe places.
